One Nation Under God

I was born in 1947, in the middle to two wars.   World War II had just ended in 1945 and the Korean War started in 1950.

The United States was still recovering from World War II when I was born. I had relatives that had returned from overseas and I'm sure were still recovering from the effects of being in battle.

You don't go through a battle without there being scars.

I started to kindergarten in 1952.  Every morning, every school I went to, the first thing in the morning we would all stand with our hands on our hearts and face the Flag of the United States and pledge our allegiance to the greatest country  on Earth.

I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic, for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

Saying the pledge every morning gave me pride in our country and in the freedom that had been bought with the blood of men and women who fought for it.  I know there are still schools that recite it and there are schools which have completely disregarded it.

I'm not going to argue politics or religion. My argument is for my country.

I want to still believe that the United States is still the greatest country and was founded on God, and that everyone that is a citizen of this great country has liberty and justice.

I PLEDGE MY ALLEGIANCE TO THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!

Always an Indiana Girl

"Life took me to North Carolina, but I'll always be an Indiana Girl!"

In my life, I have lived in many different states and towns. It was not what I had planned in my life. I'm a mother who wants to be around all of my kids and grandkids. But unfortunately, they are also scattered around this United States.

I have a son and granddaughter in San Antonio, Texas. I have two sons, six grandchildren, and one great granddaughter that live in the Cincinnati, Ohio area. And I have one son and four grandchildren that live in Greenville, North  Carolina, plus a grandson who lives in Sacramento, Kentucky.

I was born in Evansville, Indiana and grew up in Newburgh, Indiana. I still have a lot of family there. Indiana will always be HOME!

I was reading about Abraham this morning in the Bible. The Lord had plans for Abraham. God told him to leave his father and go to another country. Abraham obeyed God and would sojourn in different countries as God commanded.

Genesis 26:3

Sojourn in this land, and I will be with thee, and will bless thee;...

Being in the ministry, God moved us around a lot. Sometimes I felt I didn't have a home. I have lived in North Carolina for over 12 years. For me that is a long time to live somewhere.

A few years ago, I realized I have a lot of homes. Even though I have sojourned in many different places, they were my home at the time. They were places I made memories, friends, faced obstacles,  but I had to believe that was where God wanted me at the time.

I know I am just a sojourner in this world. God has planned a permanent home for me in Heaven!

"This World Is Not My Home, I'm Just a Passing Through"

New Year, New Beginnings

 2021

Hopefully a year full of new promises, adventures, hope, and all the things that fill your life with joy and laughter.

Most people think of a new year as a new beginning.  They set new goals, plan on being a better person, plan on putting more money in savings, eating better, losing weight, and the list could go on and on.  I never make new year resolutions, but I always have goals for the new year.

I always set spiritual goals. Each year I always want my faith in God to stay strong and to be closer to Him.

And I still have so many dreams in my life.  I know I'm older, and a lot of my dreams seem far away, but they are still there.

My favorite quote is by C.S. Lewis:

"You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream."

I know this new year will have its challenges, but it is also be a year full of promises.
